This page is setup so you can learn the various tools for entering your content in the wiki. To edit a Scroll (wiki page) in the Guild Archives, click the
in the upper right of the page and select edit or scroll to the bottom of the page and click the
button.
The toolbars at the top allow you to edit in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) mode or in WIKI mode. 99% of you will use the WYSIWYG mode and that’s totally fine! We just included the WIKI syntax editor in case people wanted to get really fancy with their entries.
Please note: Just because this is a titled as a styling page, it doesn’t necessarily represent a “style guide”. The Guild of Avalon isn’t the most well funded guild in all of Yggdra and our archives are a collection of scrolls, notes, partially ruined books, and journals brought in by scholars and our own guild members. Perhaps one day we will have the funds to hire help for our beleagured archivist, but until then feel free to enter your lore as you see fit. If a presentation style seems to be adopted by the majority of users, we’ll look into creating some formatting regulations.
H1 heading
So that last paragraph about entering lore as you see fit? This is the exception. Please don’t use H1 tags as the wiki page title is already an H1 and it’s best for search engine optimization if you don’t. Unfortunately, there’s no simple way to give you the easy to use editor and remove h1 from the dropdown options.
H2 heading
The above is an example of an H2 heading. These will be the primary headings. Use the formatting pulldown
to change between paragraph text (Normal) and different headings. Use the enter/return key to create paragraph breaks.
Hold Shift + Enter/Return to create a soft return to have a new line but not a new paragraph.
ProTip: Use the
“show blocks” icon in the top tool bar and you’ll be able to see which tags are assigned and where your paragraph breaks are.
H3 Heading
H3-H6 is for you to use as you see fit. Use these to break up important sections of your page with decreasing size, if you are creating sections within sections. If you are creating a collaborative page, you may also want to use one of these to distinguish between authors.
H4 Heading
H3-H6 is for you to use as you see fit. Use these to break up important sections of your page with decreasing size, if you are creating sections within sections. If you are creating a collaborative page, you may also want to use one of these to distinguish between authors.
H5 Heading
H3-H6 is for you to use as you see fit. Use these to break up important sections of your page with decreasing size, if you are creating sections within sections. If you are creating a collaborative page, you may also want to use one of these to distinguish between authors.
H6 Heading
H3-H6 is for you to use as you see fit. Use these to break up important sections of your page with decreasing size, if you are creating sections within sections. If you are creating a collaborative page, you may also want to use one of these to distinguish between authors.
Other Text Formatting Options
As noted earlier, the first pulldown lets you select between heading styles and the “normal” paragraph style. As a general rule of thumb, you can leave the formatting of the headings as they are. If you get really excited about a bold, italic, underlined, strike through, centered heading then we aren’t going to stop you, but it will help other people read your entry if you keep it somewhat standard. The following styles can be applied individually or combined in whatever fashion you like to paragraph text.
Click this icon
in the toolbar for bold text.
Click this icon
in the toolbar for italic text.
Click this icon
in the toolbar for underline text.
Click this icon
in the toolbar for strike through text.
Text Alignment
The default for all text is left aligned
.
Note: text alignment applies to the entire paragraph or heading but does not affect bulleted and numbered lists. Those are always left aligned.
Numbered Lists and Bulleted Lists
Clicking this icon
will give you a bulleted list. Create sublists by pushing enter after your list item then hitting tab. To go back a level or to continue entering none list information just hit enter again.
- Bullet 1

- Tertiary list item 1

Features Toolbar (top toolbar)
These features are just enabled to make editing a bit easier for you or extend some of the formatting options. Here’s what they do.
Click this icon to enter Wiki Markup mode. This is only for users who want to learn and implement wiki syntax. The full list of available syntax options can be found here. You will note that some of the push button options remain. While these are usable in Wiki Markup mode, you may find that there are inconsistent results. Whichever mode you select (Wiki Markup or WYIWYG) becomes your default for editing until you click that icon again. Some options entered in Wiki Markup may disappear when you switch back to WYSIWYG. The system is a little finicky on how it parses all the formatting options.
We covered this earlier but the show boxes button is a handy way to see the content structure if you’re having trouble with paragraph and heading formatting.
This feature requires no interaction from you. It is a TEMPORARY save feature. You must still click the
button at the bottom of the page to save your entry. We enabled this to help with session time outs and browser crashes so you don’t lose your work.
Most users will not have this option. It’s included as a way for Admins to quickly update the toolbars as Tiki Wiki enables more useful features.
Utility Toolbar (bottom bar)
These feature are enabled to make it easier to perform common tasks (like copy/paste) and insert assets/structural elements. Hovering over them will show you standard keyboard shortcuts if there are any.
Tasks
The first six icons are task features

Linking and Images
The next 4 icons are for Linking and Images.
Insert Image Icon - images and file attachments are currently reserved for site admins until we can make sure there are no security issues with enabling this feature for all users.
Wiki Link Icon - link to another page within the wiki. For more implementation information, see Wiki Page Creation
Remove Link Icon - This removes either an internal wiki link or external link.
External Link Icon - Please only link to relevant content. This is a great way to make sure an artist gets credit if they have art posted on a site like deviant art that you are basing your entry on.
Layout
The final 2 icons are for layout.
The
icon creates a horizontal divider as seen below.
The
icon creates a tabset as seen below. When you select it, you will see a modal window that prompts you to enter the tabset parameters.
- Tabset Name: Enter a unique tabset name so the wiki “remembers” the last tab used. A naming convention using the pagename_tabset and adding a number at the end should avoid any conflicts.
- Tab Titles: Enter the names for each tab. Use the format Title 1|Title 2|Title3 with a bar between each title to differentiate them
- Toggle Tabs: Leave blank (default)
- Inside Pretty Tracker: Leave blank (default)
- Body: insert content for each tab with 5 forward slashes between each block of content and on separate lines. example -
This is the content of the first tab
/////
This is the content of the second tab
/////
This is the content of the third tab
